POSITION TITLE: Student Engagement Coach DEPARTMENT: Student Services/Special Education (CCEIS) REPORTS TO: Director of Special Education and Building Principal FLSA STATUS: Exempt WORK SCHEDULE: 210 days DATE REVIEWED: 09-2026 TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Position is funded through the district's Comprehensive Coordinated Early Intervening Services (CCEIS) allocation under IDEA Part B and is contingent upon continued federal funding. Salary and length of contract to be established by the Board of Education and the Superintendent. PRIMARY FUNCTION: To provide targeted engagement, mentorship, and relationship-based support to identified students in order to improve attendance, classroom participation, behavioral outcomes, and academic performance. The Student Engagement Coach works as part of the district's CCEIS plan to address significant disproportionality by supporting students who are not identified for special education services but who demonstrate early indicators of academic or behavioral risk. The Coach serves as a consistent, trusted adult presence for students, partners with school teams to strengthen Tier 2 and Tier 3 supports, and helps students build the skills, habits, and connections that keep them successfully engaged in school. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned Communicates, collaborates, and cooperates with colleagues, supervisors, students, and familiesBuilds and maintains appropriate, supportive relationships with an assigned caseload of studentsProvides individual and small-group check-ins based on data, observations, conversations, and referralsServes as a mentor and consistent point of contact for students identified through the district's CCEIS processSupports the implementation of Tier 2 and Tier 3 interventions within the school's MTSS frameworkMonitors student attendance, behavior, and academic progress and communicates concerns to school teamsAssists students with goal-setting, self-advocacy, organization, and problem-solving skillsParticipates in MTSS, grade-level, and student support team meetings as appropriateCollects and maintains accurate documentation of services, contacts, and student progress for CCEIS reporting requirementsConsults with administrators, teachers, support staff, and outside agencies to promote the cognitive, affective, and behavioral development of studentsAssists students in transitions between grade levels, schools, and programsInteracts with community resources to help students and familiesMakes home and agency visits when appropriateFollows system mandated reporter protocol to address and report child abuse and neglect concerns as outlined by O.C.G.A.19-7-5 (2016)Participates in training programs to increase skills and proficiency related to the assignmentEnsures adherence to good safety procedures QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education Required Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university PREFERRED EDUCATION And/or EXPERIENCE Experience working with students on engagement and building cohesive, appropriate relationships at the school levelUnderstanding of mentorship and mentoring practices with school-aged studentsBasic understanding of MTSS and tiered interventions in the school setting EVALUATION: Performance of this job shall be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of the board's policy on evaluation of personnel. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: To perform the duties of this job, the employee is required to stand, walk, sit, or hear. Lifting up to 30 pounds may be required on an occasional basis. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Specific vision abilities required of this job include close vision and distance vision.
