About the role

Under the supervision of the Director of Outdoor Education, provides overnight supervision of students and volunteer counselors in the cabins at the outdoor education school; initiates and oversees recreational, social and group living activities. This position requires living in and providing overnight supervision within a male-designated student cabins, which includes monitoring shared living and changing areas.

Qualifications

• Graduation from high school or equivalent
• Experience (paid or volunteer) working in an instructional, community, clinic or home setting with elementary or middle school-aged children
• Experience with outdoor education programs, camps or youth-group activities is highly desirable
• Must be at least 18 years of age

Licenses and certifications

• Current standard First Aid Certificate and CPR certification (required at time of appointment)
• Valid Driver's License
• Requires driving a SCOE vehicle
• Must provide proof of insurance

Pay and schedule

Pay Range $20.78 - $25.31 per hour (Range 5, CSEA Classified Hourly Salary Schedule). Initial salary placement is restricted to a maximum of Step 3 ($22.94/hr) for external applicants. Shift differential: extra $0.75 per hour for time worked between 6:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.

Length of work year: 145 workdays, 154 paid days/year, 4 days/week (varies, mostly Tue-Fri), 10 hours/day (9:00 PM - 8:00 AM). Full time.

Benefits

A Benefit Entitlement for health, dental and vision coverage is available for positions that are at least 4 hours per day. The amount of the entitlement is based on the number of hours worked per day.
