About the role
As a student cook, you will be assisting the Cowles House Executive Chef in food preparation and presentation.
Responsibilities
- Chopping fruits and vegetables
- Following written recipes and lists
- Stocking and restocking a buffet
- Plating meals
- Running the dishwasher
- Taking directions from the chef
Requirements
- Be enrolled as a student at Michigan State University (during academic year)
- Able to complete tasks in a timely manner with minimal supervision
- Positive and respectful while working with others
- Able to work variable hours Monday through Friday, occasional Saturday and Sunday events
- Able to work all home football games
- Positive interpersonal skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Dependable, motivated, and eager to learn
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
- Comfortable working in a kitchen environment
- Previous cooking experience not required

Physical Demands
Ability to stand for extended periods of time

Work Hours
- Flexible shifts that accommodate class schedules
- Variable hours Monday-Friday 7:00 am to 10:00 pm
- Available to work all home football games preferred
- Occasional weekend shifts based on event needs
