Teachers generally work from mid-July (beginning with professional development before students arrive) through late May. Workdays are generally 7:10 AM-3:45 PM, Monday through Friday. Mondays extend to 4:30 PM and include mandatory Professional Development time. Anticipated school hours and days vary annually based on changes to the school calendar. Position Title: Student Conduct & Hearing Officer Position Information Department: Student Intervention and Support Reports to: MTSS Coordinator Work Schedule: 10-month (mid/late July - mid/late May)Employment Type: Full time, ExemptLocation: Harvey, LAStart Date: July 20th, 2026 Position Summary Jefferson RISE Charter School is seeking a highly organized, objective, and detail-oriented Student Conduct & Hearing Officer to serve as the school's primary investigator and hearing officer responsible for ensuring the fair, consistent, and timely application of student conduct policies and procedures. The Student Conduct & Hearing Officer conducts investigations, reviews evidence, determines findings, assigns disciplinary outcomes, supervises accountability measures, and maintains accurate records related to student conduct matters. This position protects instructional time and supports school safety through objective decision-making, procedural integrity, and consistent implementation of school policies. Key Responsibilities Investigation and Fact Finding Conduct investigations involving major student conduct violationsInterview students, staff, and witnesses and collect relevant evidenceReview written statements, video footage, and supporting documentationDetermine findings based on evidence and established school policiesMaintain complete, accurate, and defensible records of investigations and outcomesEnsure investigations are completed thoroughly, within established timelines, and meet all legal compliance requirements Student Conduct Administration and Accountability Measures Apply student conduct policies consistently and objectivelyDetermine and assign disciplinary outcomes aligned to school policies and proceduresFacilitate disciplinary conferences, hearings, and resolution meetingsCoordinate and supervise student accountability and intervention sessions, and other assigned disciplinary consequences including but not limited to lunch detention, after-school detention, Saturday behavior academy, etc.Maintain records regarding assigned consequences, attendance, completion, and complianceCommunicate consequence assignments, expectations, and completion requirements to students and parent/guardiansMonitor compliance with assigned disciplinary outcomes and determine appropriate follow-up actions when necessaryFacilitate student reflection and accountability activities connected to disciplinary outcomes Documentation and Compliance Maintain complete and accurate student conduct records in all school student information systemsPrepare investigation summaries, findings reports, and disciplinary documentationEnsure documentation meets school expectations and applicable legal requirementsMaintain organized records and case filesSupport audits, reporting requirements, and documentation reviews as needed Communication and Family Engagement Serve as the primary point of contact regarding major student conduct mattersCommunicate investigation findings and outcomes to students and familiesConduct parent conferences and re-entry meetingsProvide timely updates throughout the disciplinary processSupport students and families in understanding expectations and accountability measures CANDIDATE PROFILE Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree preferredMinimum of three years of experience working with adolescents in education, youth development, student services, investigations, compliance, social services, juvenile justice, or a related fieldStrong organizational skills and attention to detailExcellent written and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage confidential information and exercise sound professional judgmentProficiency in Google Workspace (Gmail, Docs, Sheets, Slides) Experience developing dashboards, reports, and progress monitoring systems Culture and Fit Believes accountability and support work together to improve student outcomesApproaches situations objectively and makes decisions based on evidence and established proceduresValues consistency, fairness, and professionalismCommunicates effectively with students, families, and colleaguesOpen to feedback and accountable for outcomesCollaborative, dependable, and committed to continuous improvement Compensation Jefferson RISE offers competitive compensation tied to performance and qualifications. We do not follow a traditional salary schedule - annual salaries reflect the outcomes teachers drive and the value they bring to students and the school. Annual Salary Ranges: $45,000 - $55,000 starting salary depending on degree level, certification, content, previous student outcomes, and experienceAdditional Stipends Available: Employees may be eligible for stipends or supplemental compensation for approved responsibilities that extend beyond the regular duties of their position. Examples may include athletic coaching, club sponsorship, leadership, special projects, additional workdays, extended hours, or other assigned duties. Eligibility and amounts are determined by the school and may vary from year to year.Raises and Bonuses: We believe exceptional performance should be recognized. Employees may be eligible for performance-based raises and bonuses.
