DIRECTOR OF SPECIAL EDUCATION / STUDENT HEARING OFFICER (Part-Time)

Qualifications

• Minimum of three (3) years of successful experience as a Special Education instructor.
• Valid Michigan teaching certificate in Special Education.
• State of Michigan Special Education Administrators Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Understands and implements the terms of the Master Contracts.
• Interprets and implements Beecher Board of Education policies, administrative rules, and regulations relating to the Beecher School system.
• Assists in identifying Special Education staff needs, recruiting, screening, recommending, training, assigning, and evaluating the assigned school's instructional staff.
• Formulates and implements plans to provide instructional leadership for staff members in developing and improving their individual professional competency.
• Conducts meetings of the staff as necessary for the proper functioning of the school.
• Assists in the preparation of the program budget and monitors expenditures.
• Prepares necessary records, reports, requisitions, supply orders, and all other paperwork required or appropriate to the school's administration.
• Directs the Special Education program including Child Find procedures.
• Develops scope and sequences in Special Education guidelines from early elementary through high school.
• Performs such other tasks and assumes such other responsibilities as may, from time to time, be assigned by the Superintendent.

Requirements

Pay

Annual Salary: $40,000 - $42,000. No fringe benefits.
