Student Athlete Academic Support Assistant (Entry-Level Trainee Appointment)

About the role

The Student Athlete Academic Support Assistant is part of the Student Athlete Resource Center’s (SARC) Academic Support Services. This role provides academic and overall program support in the form of one-on-one mentoring meetings, academic center/study hall monitoring, academic tracking, and serves as a resource for onboarding student-athletes.

Responsibilities

• Meet with each of their assigned students at least once a week to review their academic progress.
• Discuss and review the student’s academic progress by reviewing their coursework, syllabi, study skills, time management, class attendance, assignments, and tests.
• Provide tutoring, schedule and/or refer out to campus tutoring resources – assisting the athlete in connecting with the support services necessary.
• Compile weekly reports with student-athlete academic status updates to be shared with the respective coaching staff via email or in-person team staff meetings.
• Support student-athlete onboarding strategies which can include learning assessments, online class platform tutorials, class schedule review and textbook acquisition.

Requirements

Knowledge and Abilities:

• Working knowledge of the basic principles of individual and group behavior;
• Research and observation techniques for the purpose of recording, classifying, and interpreting factual information;
• The techniques and methods of interviewing.

Experience:

• None required.

Qualifications

Education:

• Equivalent to graduation from a four-year college or university in one of the behavioral sciences, public or business administration or a job-related field.

Skills

Ability to provide effective student services such as advising, tutoring, counseling, or other related duties in a college setting.

Pay

The salary rate for this appointment is $4,150 monthly. CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,150 monthly - $5,076 monthly.

Schedule

Working hours are anticipated primarily between 8am - 5pm, Monday - Friday. Hours may vary based on operational needs.
