Student Asst - FWS
Child & Family Studies (CFS) is one of seven departments within the College of Behavioral & Community Sciences (CBCS). Organized into three research divisions and five academic programs, CFS currently has approximately 275 faculty and staff members.
About the role
This position reports directly to Kimberly Read, Assistant Chair for Operations, and provides administrative support for a variety of departmental operations and initiatives. The individual in this role will play an important part in organizing and maintaining the department's shared files and resources, including reviewing file systems for accuracy, reorganizing electronic records, and identifying outdated or redundant materials. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, proactive, and comfortable offering suggestions to improve organizational processes and departmental efficiency.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative support to the Assistant Chair for Operations.
- Coordinate meetings, schedules, and departmental communications.
- Organize and maintain shared departmental files and records.
- Review and remove outdated, duplicate, or inaccurate documents.
- Recommend and implement improvements to file organization and office processes.
Requirements
- Student must have a 2026 – 2027 Federal Work Study award.
- Must be available to work on campus.

- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Experience identifying areas for improvement and providing constructive feedback.

- Solicit and receive constructive feedback from supervisor concerning work products and effectively apply feedback on the job.
- Work independently with little supervisory oversight.
- Communicate transferable and functional skills to prospective employers.
- Demonstrate basic employability skills such as timeliness to work, appropriate dress, interpersonal communication, and time management.
Pay
$14.00 - $15.00 per hour
Schedule
- 15-20 hours per week.
- Available within the hours of 8 a.m. - 5 p.m., Monday through Friday.
