Student Assistant - Stone Writing Center Pool
Position Information
This is a CONTINUOUS recruitment for an applicant POOL to fill Student Assistant assignments on an as-needed basis. Departments or Divisions will refer to the POOL of applications on file to fill temporary assignments as the need arises. You will be contacted by the hiring manager should the department/division be interested in scheduling an interview. AN APPLICATION IS VALID FOR ONE YEAR, AT WHICH TIME APPLICANTS WISHING TO REMAIN IN THE POOL MUST REAPPLY AND UPDATE THEIR INFORMATION.
Position Summary Information
The purpose of this position is to perform customer service and clerical duties necessary for the effective operation of the Stone Writing Center.
- Current Del Mar College student enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours while employed.
- Strong customer service skills
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to learn additional computer software
- Ability to communicate with students of varied multicultural backgrounds

Job Duties
- Assist students with sign in and computer software and hardware issues.
- Answer phones and students’ questions.
- Sign out and check in mobile devices/technology to students. Monitor use of mobile devices/technology
- Configure spaces for scheduled events.
- Aid in maintenance of instructor files and distribution of instructional materials
- Meet regularly with supervisor.
- Aid the Director and Assistant Instructors with administrative tasks and special projects, as needed.
- Participate in ongoing training.
- Maintain orderliness and operation of the SWC (opening and closing, checking supplies, filing, administrative tasks, and flexibility in work hours to ensure adequate coverage).
- Other tasks as assigned by supervisor.
