Student Assistant- Career Success
About the role
San Francisco Bay University (SFBU), a nonprofit, WASC-accredited university in Fremont, California, seeks a Student Assistant. Responsibilities
- Greet and welcome students, staff, and visitors in a friendly and professional manner.
- Ensure the Student Success Hub welcome desk area is clean, organized, and welcoming.
- Report any maintenance or safety issues to the appropriate staff.
- Support the Career Services department with administrative tasks.
- Support the Student Affairs department with administrative tasks as needed.
- Affiliate in monitoring and replenishing supplies.
- Conduct in-person and online peer reviews of career documents including resume, cover letter, and LinkedIn reviews.
- Affiliate in planning and executing Career Services events including workshops, networking events, and student affairs programs.
- Answer drop-in questions about services at the Student Success Hub.
- Serve as a student ambassador for the Student Success Hub by promoting services to peers.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Currently enrolled and completed at least one term as a student at SFBU.
- Excellent public speaking, organization, time management, teamwork, and written communication skills.
- Must possess customer service orientation, high level of professionalism, ability to follow procedures, and strong attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment, both independently and collaboratively.
- Strong work ethic and positive attitude; ability to serve as a role model and mentor to other students.
- Ability to work independently and take initiative.
- Must be able to lift and carry up to 20lbs.
Pay and Schedule
The Student Success Hub is open from 8:30am-5:30pm. Applicants must be able to work during these times. A schedule will be determined each semester with all CSAs' availability for the week. The student's availability, along with an attempt to equalize the hours between all CSAs, will determine how many hours the student will work a week. Additionally, students may work evening/weekend hours depending on events. CSA's have worked in the range of 8-20 hours depending on everyone's availability. Compensation for this position is $20/hour. This position is not eligible for benefits.
