About the role
This position functions as an assistant to professional transportation planner staff in meeting the responsibilities of the Statewide and Urban Travel Analysis (SUTA) Section. This includes tasks related to travel trend analysis, present and future travel forecasts, Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and its applications, travel demand modeling applications, collection and analysis of socioeconomic and land use data, and development of documentation and presentation materials.
Responsibilities
- Assists senior staff with the provision of data for determining transportation needs required by federal regulations for the Michigan and Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPO) long-range transportation plans, regional plans, the MPO and State Transportation Improvement Programs, transportation performance measures, and air quality conformity analysis required by the Clean Air Act Amendment.
Requirements
Required Education And Experience:
- Current enrollment in vocational or technical school, or post-secondary educational institution.
- MDOT requires enrollment in at least six credit hours per semester/term excluding summers and continuously enrolled and earning the required credits.
- To be considered for this position you must submit proof of enrollment which includes unofficial transcripts, an acceptance letter from the college/university (as long as it is for the upcoming semester/term), copy of current semester/term schedule, or a receipt of tuition payment that shows a balance of $0.00.
- Failure to attach proof of enrollment may result in you being screened out of the process.

Pay
The salary range for this position is $15.00 - $25.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
