STUDENT ASSISTANT
About the role
The Student Assistant (SA) works under close supervision from the Supervisor II and with support from other program support staff. The SA assists the Learning, Equity, Advancement, and Development (LEAD) Office by reviewing and processing paperwork submitted and evaluating all paperwork for completeness and correctness. The SA communicates through email and/or phone as needed, demonstrates excellent customer service skills, and keeps detailed notes and tracks assignments.
Responsibilities

- Reasons logically, writes effectively, analyzes situations accurately, suggests recommendations to supervisor, establishes and maintains cooperative relations with those contacted in the work.
- Provides recommendations for analysts and management.
- Aids staff by creating weekly reports for management.
- Is proficient with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat (PDF), Microsoft Teams, and other office systems.
- Participates in various phases of a planned training program and learns state policies, procedures, and techniques related to the grant process.
- Performs meaningful tasks which are valuable and necessary to the program of the department, such as computation, programming, and analysis of data.
- Gains practical experience in the professional or technical field of study in child care programs and assists in research, analysis, review, and other related activities in the department.
Requirements
The SA must have the ability to reason logically, write effectively, analyze situations accurately, suggest recommendations to supervisor, establish and maintain cooperative relations with those contacted in the work, and adopt an effective course of action. The incumbent's schedule will be based on what best fits the needs of the office and the incumbent.
Qualifications
The SA must have a valid California driver's license and reliable transportation. The SA must also have excellent organizational skills, be able to work independently, and have strong communication skills.

The SA must be proficient with Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, Adobe Acrobat (PDF), Microsoft Teams, and other office systems. The SA must also be able to perform meaningful tasks which are valuable and necessary to the program of the department, such as computation, programming, and analysis of data.
