About the Role
This position assists with awarding and cash management activities, including credit balance review, reconciliation, third-party agency funding, and student account activities. The role requires highly technical knowledge of financial aid programs, VA benefits, agency benefits, and procedures to independently assist campuses and other professionals via phone and electronic correspondence. Strong analytical skills, the ability to work independently with a sense of urgency, and strict adherence to Title IV and VA regulations are essential.
Responsibilities
- Comply with all Federal, State, accreditation, and institutional policies and procedures.
- Post all charges, receipts, funds, and refunds to student accounts, ensuring accuracy and integrity of balances.
- Ensure all refunds are posted and processed by required due dates.
- Perform credit balance review and schedule refunds accordingly.
- Process timely adjustments to institution loans.
- Review accuracy of VA Education Benefit payments and debt letter processing.
- Post VA or Agency refunds to account ledger.
- Handle agency invoicing and collections.
- Enforce corporate refund policy to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Maintain knowledge of Title IV awarding and cash management rules and regulations.
- Provide exceptional customer service to both internal and external customers.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Prior knowledge of VA benefits/certifications is required.
- Experience with School Certifying Official and Enrollment Manager platforms.
- Familiarity with agency/third-party invoicing processes.
- Ability to work with a sense of urgency and responsiveness to students and co-workers.
- Willingness and ability to complete additional training as assigned.
Qualifications
- At least 3 years of experience in a financial aid department of an accredited college or university, with direct responsibility for processing Title IV activities, VA programs, and agency funding (preferred).
- Associate’s degree or comparable work experience required; Bachelor’s degree with coursework in math, business, finance, auditing, or accounting preferred.
- Excellent customer service, oral and written communication, and presentation skills.
- Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially MS Excel.
- Ability to meet deadlines and execute multiple priorities.
