About the role

The Student Account Coordinator supports accurate student account management, collaborates with campus partners, and provides guidance to students and families on housing-related financial matters.

Responsibilities

  • Process student housing accounts, room assignments, meal plans, contract adjustments, and billing transactions using StarRez, PeopleSoft, and related systems.
  • Advise students, parents, and campus partners on housing charges, payment plans, financial aid, and account balances while resolving billing issues and processing account adjustments.
  • Prepare financial reports, reconcile account data, manage special billing programs, and support software testing and process improvements.
  • Cookorate with campus departments to administer housing-related programs, supervise student assistants, and support specialized billing, collections, and student financial initiatives.
  • Process residence hall damage charges, special program billing, and housing-related financial transactions while ensuring accurate documentation and timely collection of funds.

Requirements

  • Equivalent to four years of progressively responsible financial record-keeping experience which has provided the above knowledge and abilities.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of financial record-keeping, mathematical and general office methods, procedures, and practices; and basic knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Excellent organizational skills and knowledge and experience prioritizing work.
  • Patient and a business-like, courteous manner are required in working with students, parents and University departments.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Arts or Science Degree in a related field preferred.
  • Experience with PeopleSoft and StarRez, and working in a University environment with parents and students preferred.

SkillsDetail-oriented and customer-focused skills are essential.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

    Pay

    $4,570-$6,658 per month (Step 1-Step 20).

    Schedule

    Standard SDSU work hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., but may vary based on operational needs.

    Department Summary

    The Office of Housing Administration (OHA) is a self-funded operation responsible for planning, providing, and administering housing operations, services, and facilities with over 100 employees and more than 150 student assistants. With an annual operating budget exceeding $159 million, OHA provides housing for over 9,000 students, live-in professional staff, and faculty across 25 residential buildings totaling more than 2 million square feet of residential facilities. OHA also operates SDSU-IV housing at the Imperial Valley campus. OHA manages the operation of residence halls, apartments, and conference and event spaces. In partnership with the Residential Education Office (REO), OHA supports the educational mission of the university while providing the business operations for all housing-related functions, ensuring a high-quality environment that enhances the student educational experience.
