About the Scholarship
The STS–ASCVTS Aortic Summit 2026 scholarships provide a $1,000 or $500 stipend to cardiothoracic surgeons, residents, and medical students who demonstrate financial need or academic merit. Funds support attendance at the premier aortic meeting in Asia, taking place November 13–14, 2026, in Tokyo, Japan. Scholarship funds may be used toward conference registration, lodging at a host hotel, or travel-related expenses, including airfare.
About the Event
Co-presented by The Society of Thoracic Surgeons (STS) and the Asian Society for Cardiovascular and Thoracic Surgery (ASCVTS), this meeting marks the second joint meeting of the two societies. The summit consists of two full days of presentations and discussions focused on the diagnosis and treatment of thoracic aortic lesions, including endovascular approaches.
Eligibility
- Open to cardiothoracic surgeons, cardiothoracic surgery residents, and medical students planning to pursue training in cardiothoracic surgery.
- Applicants must demonstrate financial need or academic merit.
- Applicants must submit a scientific abstract to the meeting to be considered for the scholarship.
Award Details
- The award amount will be paid to awardees upon arrival at the conference.
- Funds are intended for use toward conference registration, lodging in a host hotel, or travel-related costs including airfare.
Scholarship Types
- $1,000 Abstract Presenter Scholarships: TSF will offer 15 $1,000 scholarships to presenters of the top abstracts accepted to the 2026 ASCVTS/STS Asian Aortic Summit. Open to cardiothoracic surgeons, residents, and medical students. Awards are based on STS and ASCVTS’s determination of the top 15 abstracts.
- $500 Travel Grants: TSF will provide travel grants of $500 to support the attendance of cardiothoracic surgery residents and medical students training in the Asian region who demonstrate financial need.
