About the role

The STS Abstractor will review and abstract cardiac registry data from client medical records to ensure compliance with nationally recognized quality patient care processes and clinical outcomes. This role requires meticulous attention to detail and the ability to meet client timeline commitments. The candidate will also handle client communications and contribute to overall service satisfaction.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain high standards of service gratification

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of current experience with STS Abstraction
  • Reliable, high-speed internet connection
  • Ability to work a minimum of 20 hours per week (15-20 hours per week on a regular basis as a subcontractor)
  • Graduate of an approved accredited nursing program (RN/BSN) with a current license to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse
  • Commitment and reliability, with consistent time dedication to HIA
  • Superb communication and responsiveness
  • Computer literacy, including proficiency with Excel, web browsers, email, and electronic health records
  • Familiarity with technologies such as security (e.g., Citrix), data collection/abstraction tools, encoders, and web-based applications
  • Self-maintenance of skillset, credentials, and knowledge of abstraction/coding rules, manuals, and guidelines
  • Prior experience in a similar role
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work independently in a remote, team-based environment

Qualifications

  • College degree from an accredited nursing program, CAHIIM-accredited program, or other accredited healthcare program
  • Healthcare credential associated with their program of study
  • Other healthcare information-related abstraction and coding credentials (desirable)
  • Electronic Health Record (EHR) experience
  • Experience abstracting crucial medical data for reporting key quality measures
  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including applications and programming

This is a PRN subcontractor (1099) position. Background and drug screening may be required. The specific statements in this description represent typical elements necessary to perform the job successfully.
