Structuring Lead

About the role

The Structuring Lead role at Barings Portfolio Finance focuses on structuring, executing, and operationalizing financing structures for private equity, credit, secondaries, real estate, and infrastructure investments. The role involves working closely with the Portfolio Management team to develop and execute robust and commercially viable financing solutions, negotiating credit agreements and related legal documentation, and managing the overall portfolio.

Responsibilities

• Challenge and provide structured solutions on the most robust and commercially viable financing solutions for private markets managers.
• Negotiate and document Barings' expectations with borrowers.
• Work with the loan asset management team to document, structure, and operationalize each structure.
• Coordinate ongoing interactions with current and prospective managers/borrowers.
• Identify and manage key structural, operational, and credit risk factors in new credit facilities.
• Collaborate with the team across Boston and London offices to ensure a cohesive approach to deal execution and portfolio management.
• Operationalize the investment goals of a given investment and create situation-specific structures based on target collateral and negotiated financing structures.
• Optimize the roles of various partners post-close to facilitate ongoing portfolio management excellence, particularly for complex structures such as ABL secured lending, CFOs/Rated Feeders, PE NAV, secondaries, GP facilities, and specialized structures in different jurisdictions.

Requirements

The ideal candidate should possess a strong background in legal, leveraged finance, credit, structuring, and restructuring/workout. They should have extensive experience in underwriting and executing private credit/leveraged finance transactions, modeling, and real-time problem-solving. The candidate should also have a deep understanding of the risks associated with borrowers' respective businesses and the lending structure, and be able to articulate strategies to minimize and manage these risks.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in Finance, Law, or a related field.
• Minimum 7 years of relevant experience in private credit, leveraged finance, or similar areas.
• Experience in structuring and negotiating complex financing arrangements.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

• Strong credit investment experience.
