Structured Cabling Technician
About the role
The Structured Cabling Technician is responsible for installing and maintaining structured cabling systems, including fiber, coax, copper, CAT 5 and CAT 6 cable, in commercial and institutional buildings. The role involves completing terminations and connectors, conducting cable testing, and ensuring compliance with project specifications.
Responsibilities
- Installation of structured cabling (CAT 5E, CAT 6 and others)
- Optical fiber installation according to requirements
- Planning and estimating time, quality, and resources as per contracts
- Cable labeling according to defined standards
- Conducting necessary tests post-installation and making corrections as needed
- Maintaining strong customer relations through daily interactions
- Installing new services, extra outlets, and equipment in industrial and commercial buildings
- Aiding senior and lead technicians during service calls
Requirements
- Valid Ontario “G” driver’s license with a clear driver’s abstract
- Construction labourer, cabling/installation experience (asset)
- Ability to read drawings (asset)
- Knowledge of Belden, Panduit, and Corning design products (asset)
Qualifications
- Professional, trustworthy, and reliable with a strong attention to detail
- Effective communication skills with diverse individuals
- Ability to handle stressful and emergency situations calmly
- Organizational skills and ability to meet deadlines
- Working at heights and fall arrest certification (asset)

Pay
The expected wage for this position is in the range of $22.00 - $27.00 per hour, based on the candidate’s experience, training, skills, and internal equity. The position or associated salary could vary depending on the candidate’s profile.
Schedule
This is a primarily day shift position (8:00 am to 5:00 pm), with occasional afternoon shifts from 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm.
