Summary
Mortenson is seeking a Structured Cabling Logistics Laborer for hyperscale data center projects. The role involves assisting Cabling Technicians with material handling, installation, and assembly tasks.
Responsibilities
- Assist with installation of structured cabling systems, including fiber optic and copper cabling
- Support low voltage installation tasks such as cable pulling, routing, labeling, and basic terminations
- Measure, cut, and bend wire and conduit utilizing various hand tools
- Safely utilize hand and power tools after proper training (drills, crimpers, cutters, etc.)
- Lift, position, and fasten objects as required for installation support
- Operate Bobcat/Skid-steer Forklift/Telehandler Boom Lifts/Aerial Lifts
- Prepare, handle, stage, and supply materials and tools to support electrical and cabling trades
- Cookout material deliveries and maintain organized material storage areas
- Maintain a clean and organized work area, tools, and equipment
- Absorb and assemble/disassemble low voltage carrier systems
- Follow all safety procedures and work under immediate supervision according to standard instructions and established procedures
- Effectively work and build relationships with team members of diverse backgrounds and organizational levels
- Support general labor duties as needed to maintain project flow
- Perform all other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Relevant experience preferred
- Graduation from apprenticeship program preferred
- Current driver’s license
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety regulations, operation and maintenance instructions, blueprints and schematic drawings, and procedure manuals
- Ability to work with tools, such as power and non-powered hand tools
- Willing and able to follow instructions and ask clarifying questions
- Ability to handle materials that can weigh up to 100 lbs
- Strong teamwork orientation
- Positive attitude and professional customer service skills
- Detail oriented
- Active listening skills and effective communication including openness to diverse input and feedback
- Repetitive hand, arm, leg movements: Lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling: up to 50 lbs
