Responsibilities
- Supervise and coordinate daily fabrication operations, including welders, fitters, and fabrication personnel.
- Schedule manpower and assign work according to production priorities and master production schedules.
- Review upcoming projects and proactively adjust labor, workflow sequencing, and resources to meet deadlines.
- Order and manage materials to ensure fabrication schedules remain on track.
- Cookordinate and oversee subcontracted fabrication work and outside fabrication vendors.
- Build, modify, and maintain fabrication fixtures, jigs, and work holding systems to improve efficiency and consistency.
- Maintain production quality, department productivity, and workplace safety.
- Enforce company procedures, fabrication standards, and safety requirements.
- Hold employees accountable for attendance, performance, workmanship, and safety compliance.
- Troubleshoot fabrication challenges and collaborate with engineering and management teams to develop solutions.
- Identify operational inefficiencies and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
- Communicate production status, project delays, staffing needs, and department updates to management.
- Provide leadership, coaching, and support to fabrication personnel while fostering a positive team environment.
- Assist with fabrication activities and shop floor operations when needed.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in structural steel, welding, or heavy fabrication environments required.
- Previous experience as a Supervisor, Lead, Foreman, or similar leadership role preferred.
- Strong knowledge of welding processes, structural fabrication techniques, and shop operations.
- Ability to read and interpret structural drawings, blueprints, fabrication prints, and technical documents.
- Experience scheduling labor, coordinating materials, and managing production timelines.
- Proven ability to lead teams, enforce accountability, and drive results.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities.
- Hands-on management style with a willingness to assist on the shop floor when needed.
- Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Commitment to workplace safety, quality standards, and continuous improvement.
