About the role
We are seeking a Structural Team Lead to join our integrated buildings practice in our Honolulu office. This position will contribute to Stantec's success by planning, executing, and managing projects ranging from $30 million to over $200 million in construction values. This role is expected to use sound judgment, strong interpersonal skills, and effective tools and techniques to execute and deliver projects.
Responsibilities
- Lead work on medium and large projects, and manage and grow a team of Structural Engineers supporting local and national projects.
- Evaluate, select, and specify engineered systems or products for a project.
- Develop business locally and regionally for all disciplines.
- Manage complex tasks on medium-to-size projects ($30 Million to over $200 Million in construction values).
- Deliver quality documents.
- Plan, organize, and direct the work throughout the life of the project to successfully deliver the project to the client.
- Keep the Principal in Charge informed of progress on project expectations, potential issues, deadlines, and deliverables; understand the levels of the decision-making responsibilities of the role as a Sr. Project Manager.
- Maintain client relationship.
- Assist the Principal-in-Charge in the negotiation and development of project agreements.
- Develop and manage project budget, schedule, and overall work plan to realize target financial performance.
- Oversee development of building documentation in modeling software such as Autodesk Revit.
- Mentor structural engineers, EITs, and motivate project teams.
- Assure that Project Management Framework tasks are timely completed and properly documented.
- Lead project coordination and owner/site meetings with internal team members and/or external consultants, owner and contractor and sub-contractors.
- Work with Operations Manager in determining project staffing needs and recommending personnel.
- Directs client invoicing and effectively manages collections.
Credentials
- Requisite knowledge and application of structural design codes, standards, and applicable building codes.
- Strong knowledge of structural systems, seismic design, construction means and methods, materials, and industry standards.
- Deep understanding and working knowledge of the following building systems: steel framing including lateral systems for seismic (braced frames, BRBF, SPSW, etc.), concrete framing including lateral systems for seismic (shear walls and moment frames), wood framing, timber.
- Ability to communicate both verbally and in written form concepts and ideas to a diverse audience of Architects, Engineers, and Owner clients effectively.
- Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manage time to meet project budget and schedule.
- Experience with modeling software (Autodesk Revit).
- Experience with general business software (Microsoft Office suite).
- Experience with industry standard Structural Engineering software (CSI, RISA, RAM, etc.).
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering is required, Master’s Degree preferred.
- 12+ years of related experience.
- Hawaii Structural Engineering license is required.
Pay and Benefits
- Pay Range: $117,800.00 - $176,800.00 Annually.
