About the role
The Structural Team Leader will lead a group of structural engineering professionals in support of various water/wastewater projects. This role involves taking projects from conceptual planning to bid-ready documents, including preliminary member sizing, design calculations, inter-discipline coordination, preparation of specifications, and coordination with regional offices and quality assurance and control.
Responsibilities
- Supporting regional teams with structural related business development activities
- Structural assessments of existing facilities for planning purposes
- Developing conceptual level structural designs for water and wastewater treatment facilities
- Developing detailed structural designs, including contract documents (plans and specifications)
- Preparing design calculations and coordinating with other design disciplines for design of treatment facilities
- Cross-functional coordination with Garver regional teams for construction cost estimating and quality assurance and control
- Mentoring and managing teams, coordinating schedules, monitoring project budgets, and ensuring delivery of quality work products which adhere to Garver standardization
- Participating in client meetings, industry conferences, and serving as a subject matter expert for the Water Business Line
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering from an ABET accredited program
- 10+ years of technical experience in structural design engineering with 2+ years of experience in project/ team leadership
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE)
Preferred Attributes
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE) license in several states including TX, SC, NC, GA, FL, TN
- 15+ years of structural engineering design experience with 5+ years of experience in project/team leadership
- Proven experience overseeing structural designs in concrete, masonry and structural steel, including detailed plans and specifications for major projects
- Overall understanding of water and wastewater treatment plant systems in a campus-wide environment
- Master’s degree in civil or structural engineering
- Registration as a SE or willingness to take the NCEES Structural Engineer exam within 2 years
- Working knowledge of Revit CAD programs
- Understanding of structural complexities associated with water and wastewater treatment equipment
- Experience working with a multi-disciplinary team comprised of process, structural, building mechanical, electrical, and Instrumentation and control disciplines
- Active participation in local professional trade organizations
