About the role
Seeking an experienced structural steel fabrication leader to oversee production across two nearby facilities and two shifts. This role provides hands-on leadership to production supervisors while maintaining accountability for safety, equipment and facility maintenance, productivity, quality, scheduling, and on-time shipments. The position oversees approximately 65 employees, with planned growth toward 90, and approximately 5-6 direct reports consisting of department and shop supervisors.
Responsibilities
- Direct daily fabrication operations across both facilities and shifts
- Lead and support production supervisors and shop leadership
- Maintain a safe work environment and ensure compliance with applicable safety standards
- Oversee facility and equipment maintenance
- Improve fabrication efficiency, productivity, and quality
- Coordinate production schedules and support on-time shipping and delivery
- Manage multiple complex fabrication projects simultaneously
- Support recruiting, employee retention, workforce development, and succession planning
- Participate in disciplinary actions and employee performance management as needed
- Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and implement corrective actions
- Support operations leadership with scheduling and other plant initiatives
Qualifications
- 7+ years of structural steel fabrication experience
- 5+ years of leadership experience in fabrication, manufacturing, or production
- Thorough knowledge of AWS D1.1; CWI certification preferred but not required
- Experience in an AISC-certified shop or manufacturing environment
- Experience managing large, heavy, and complex fabrication projects
- Working knowledge of SSPC and ASTM coating requirements
- Strong understanding of fabrication operations, workflows, and production practices
- Experience overseeing multiple departments, including Receiving/Inventory, CNC Processing, Fabrication/Welding, Paint, and Shipping
- Strong communication, organization, leadership, and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to anticipate production issues and identify improvement opportunities

Pay
Starting Salary: $80,000/year, with higher compensation available based on experience
