About the role
Bala Structures is seeking a motivated structural engineer with 5-8 years of experience for our Arlington, VA-DC area office. Strong interpersonal skills for developing client relationships are essential. We welcome qualified applicants with diverse backgrounds to help continue growing the Structures group at Bala.
This role will work across a multitude of structural engineering services, including:
- Design and serve as, or work with, the structural Engineer of Record (E.O.R.) for building designs of new construction, renovations, and additions.
- Provide consultations to clients and prospective clients for structural work.
- Support BALA’s MEP departments on infrastructure and fit-out projects.
- Adapt to various business sectors such as commercial, residential, industrial, institutional, and retail.

Requirements
- Structural Engineering or Civil Engineering degree with a structural emphasis from an accredited institution.
- Registered EIT with a focus on Structural Engineering; Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred.
- 5-8 years of experience in structural design of buildings.
- Creative problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work both independently and in a team environment.
- Strong collaboration skills and ability to thrive in team-based work situations.
- Drive for thorough research and multidisciplinary curiosity.
