Structural Mechanics Engineer/Scientist (REQ 189)
About the role
Applied Physical Sciences (APS) is seeking a mid-level engineer with a degree in mechanical, civil, or aerospace engineering and 3+ years of relevant experience. Experience supporting research, development, engineering and design efforts, particularly in DoD and DoE systems, is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Supports research, development, engineering and design efforts, particularly in DoD and DoE systems
- Experience in finite element analysis codes such as ABAQUS, NASTRAN, ANSYS, and LS-DYNA
- Expertise in dynamic events and material responses under dynamic conditions
- Design and analysis of metallic, composite, and polymer structures
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master’s degree in mechanical, civil, or aerospace engineering
- 3+ years of experience in structural mechanics, stress analysis, structural design, material modeling, or shock analysis and testing
- Self-motivated with a strong background in analytical and numerical modeling
Qualifications
- Background in material constitutive, equations of state, and failure models is beneficial
Skills
- Experience in multiple areas of finite element analysis
