Main Purpose
The Structural Fitter is required and / or assigned to fabricate iron and steel structures in accordance with contract / job specifications, quality assurance requirements, fitting procedures and established International Organization for Standardization (ISO) / Quality Control (QC) program standards.
Essential Functions
- Measure, cut, fit and / or install iron and steel braces, beams, plates and pipe in accordance to blueprint and job specifications schedules
- Follow fitting procedures and principles used in the fabrication of offshore jackets, decks and production facilities
- Interpret blueprint and specifications schedules
- Perform mathematical calculations, including but not limited to addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, angles etc.
- Utilize cutting torches, measuring tapes, calculators, levels, man-lifts and / or high-reach equipment, welding machines, chipping hammers, pressure chippers, power grinders etc.
- Follow written and / or verbal instructions with little or no supervision
- Perform job duties in a safe and efficient manner
- Perform other duties assigned by supervisor
Requirements
- 2+ years experience in fitting
- Must be able to successfully demonstrate the ability to pass a written and practical fitter test
- Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
- Must be able to pass pre-employment physical and drug screen
- Must be able to pass a background check

Physical Requirements
- Standing, sitting, walking, stooping, kneeling, climbing, feeling, talking, hearing and seeing
- Turning, twisting, bending and balancing
- Pushing, pulling and reaching
- Carrying, lifting and moving up to 25 pounds, and occasionally 50-75 pounds
Environmental Conditions
- 80 to 90% of the work activities are performed outdoors
- Individuals will be required to work in changes of temperature, hot, cold, humid, wet, and dry conditions, dust, mud, etc.
- They will also be exposed to paint thinner and paint fumes
Desirable Experience/Training
- Highschool diploma or equivalent
- Tools and Equipment Used: Cutting torches, measuring tapes, calculators, levels, man-lifts and / or high-reach equipment, welding machines, chipping hammers, pressure chippers, power grinders etc.
