About the role
Mead & Hunt, a nationally recognized professional services consulting firm, has a full-time position available for a Structural Engineering Supervisor in our Washington, DC; Maryland; or Virginia office locations.
Responsibilities
- Leading structural design for bridges, retaining walls, culverts, sign structures, structures condition inspections, reports, studies, and specifications
- Preparing/reviewing designs, specifications, and cost estimates for highway transportation structures
- Preparing construction documents including stamping finalized plans for highway transportation structures
- Performing load ratings/analysis
- Supervising, managing, and mentoring staff
- Ensuring structural group and Mead & Hunt policies and procedures are followed
- Preparing task and contract technical and price proposals
- Managing project and contracts deliverables, budget and schedules
- Leading business development opportunities in the Mid-Atlantic region
- Other civil engineering projects in other locations as needed
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or related field from an accredited college or university and at least 3 years of relevant civil engineering experience; OR
- Associate degree in civil engineering or related field from an accredited college or university and at least 5 years of relevant civil engineering experience; OR
- If no degree, at least 7 years of relevant civil engineering experience
Skills
Preferred:
- Twelve (12) years of industry-related experience
- PE license in any state with the ability to obtain in Maryland within 6 months of hire
- Certified in Safety Inspection of In-Service Bridges
- Bridge/Structural design experience including LRFD concrete and steel design
- Structural design software (LARS, Merlin-Dash, STAAD, etc.)
- Well versed in AASHTO and Maryland Standards
- MicroStation and Auto-Cad Experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Leading structural engineering projects
- Project management
- Mentoring project staff
- Business development tasks (client relations, proposal development, etc.)
Pay
Salary Range: $135,000 to $200,000 annually – Actual compensation may vary due to other factors such as: experience, skill set, or location.
