Structural Engineer (SE license required)
About the role
The Structural Engineer (SE) will be responsible for developing structural designs in support of water and wastewater treatment projects and related facilities. The role will involve leading a project team of junior engineers, designers, and technicians to produce plans and specifications and manage workload on various Water Business Line projects.
Responsibilities
- Leading a project team producing structural designs for water and wastewater treatment facilities, pump stations, lift stations, tanks, vaults, and other ancillary structures associated with water and sewer infrastructure projects
- Typical designs will include treatment process basins, chemical facilities, administration buildings, retaining walls, and other supporting structures
- Performing numerous structural design tasks related to water and wastewater facilities
- Leading a project team in the production of structural designs with a great deal of autonomy
- Ensuring delivery of quality work products that adhere to Garver standards
- Maintaining a positive team attitude and interpersonal effectiveness to recruit, develop and maintain an efficient and productive structural team
Requirements
- Registered Structural Engineer (SE)
- Bachelor’s degree in civil or structural engineering from an ABET accredited program
- Technically competent in general structural engineering design in concrete, masonry, aluminum and structural steel
- Proven experience overseeing structural designs, including detailed plans and specifications for major projects
- Good communication skills (verbal and written)
- Strong teaching and coaching skills to bring new team members up to speed
Qualifications
- Active participation in local professional organizations
Skills
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Revit CAD programs
- Experience using Bluebeam and MS Office products, including Excel, Outlook and Word
- Experience working with a multi-disciplinary team comprised of process, structural, building mechanical, electrical and instrumentation and control disciplines
