Structural Engineer in Training

Full-time

Join our growing team as a Structural Engineer in Training (EIT) in Fargo, ND. This role offers hands-on experience and mentorship from seasoned professionals, allowing you to contribute to diverse projects including schools, water treatment plants, universities, and environmental structures.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Project Managers with the development and preparation of plans, specifications, technical reports, and estimates.
  • Support the design and construction of structural systems using reinforced concrete, wood, masonry, structural steel, steel joists, and light gauge steel.
  • Assist in the structural design of water and wastewater treatment facilities, including water-tight structures.
  • Contribute to the structural design of commercial, industrial, and residential structures.
  • Perform construction observation and administration on projects.
  • Prepare project drawings and details through design drafting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (with a structural emphasis) or related field.
  • Successfully completed the Fundamentals in Engineering exam, or ability to complete within 6 months.
  • Working knowledge and experience using Revit, AutoCAD, and computer-aided design software.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, attention to detail, and curiosity.
  • Ability to travel as required.
  • Ability to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements (e.g., background check, drug screen, motor vehicle records search).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Revit.
  • Intern or employment experience related to structural design, building construction, or project management.

Physical Qualifications

  • Ability to walk up to 3 miles on uneven terrain.
  • Ability to stand or sit for prolonged periods.
  • Occasionally climb, stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, and pull light to moderate amounts of weight (up to 20 pounds, rarely up to 50 pounds).
  • Ability to inspect equipment, structures, or materials to identify errors or defects.
  • May require wearing Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) such as flame-resistant clothing, hard hat, and protective footwear.
  • May require occasional evenings, weekends, and overtime depending on workload.
  • May require travel to off-site locations, including occasional overnight stays.
