About the role

The Structural Engineer in Fleet remediation engineering, Civil Structural and Architectural (FRE-CSA) team supports the design, planning, delivery, and operation of AWS global infrastructure. You will work on the most challenging problems, collaborating with a diverse team of professionals to ensure the highest standards for safety and security.

Responsibilities

  • Understand customer demand and technology/business opportunities to achieve organizational goals.
  • Propose and analyze multiple solutions to produce the most efficient, cost-effective, resilient, and scalable structural designs/remediations.
  • Provide full life-cycle support to AWS data centers from design inception through site improvement and maintenance.
  • Use subject matter expertise in structural engineering to work with a team of multi-disciplinary professionals on various projects.
  • Lead initiatives aimed at improving quality, schedule, consistency, or reducing costs to in-flight and future data center construction and improvement projects.
  • Communicate technical decisions to senior engineers and drive continuous improvements with designs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Structural Engineering.
  • 2+ years of data center or mission critical facilities (e.g., hospital, military facility, public safety facility) experience, or 2+ years of construction or project management experience.
  • Experience reading and interpreting construction drawings and specifications.
  • Experience in data center or mission critical facility design with basic multidisciplinary knowledge of mission critical systems, design process, pre-construction requirements, and the construction process.
  • Professional Civil/Structural Engineering (PE) License preferred.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of building codes and regulations for your region.
  • Experience in structural design, strategy, product innovation, and development.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Willingness to travel for site walks and field observations internationally and domestically with short notice.

Skills

  • Strong understanding of structural engineering principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other relevant software tools.

Pay

Base salary range: $96,600.00 - $160,000.00 USD annually

Schedule

Up to 50% domestic travel with short notice required.
