About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer & Design Manager to join our growing team. This is a unique opportunity for a licensed engineer who enjoys balancing technical expertise with leadership responsibilities. In this role, you will oversee a team of drafters and designers, review and approve structural plans, provide engineering guidance, and place your professional seal on construction drawings and calculations. Responsibilities

  • Engineering Leadership
    • Lead, mentor, and manage a team of CAD drafters and designers.
    • Review drawings, calculations, and technical documents for accuracy and compliance.
    • Establish drafting and engineering standards, procedures, and best practices.
    • Coordinate with Sales, Production, Quality, and Operations teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Structural Engineering
    • Design and analyze structural systems for residential manufactured home building projects.
    • Perform structural calculations and engineering evaluations using approved software and industry standards.
    • Ensure compliance with applicable local, state, and national building codes.
    • Review and approve construction documents, specifications, and design modifications.
    • Apply your professional engineering seal to drawings, calculations, and engineering documents where required.
  • Project Management
    • Oversee multiple projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines and quality expectations.
    • Collaborate with customers, third-party agencies, and regulatory authorities throughout the approval process.
    • Provide technical support during construction, manufacturing, and installation phases.
    • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement, efficiency gains, and cost savings.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related engineering discipline.
  • Current Professional Engineer (PE) license in the United States.
  • Ability to stamp and seal structural drawings and engineering documents.
  • Minimum 5+ years of structural engineering experience.
  • Previous experience leading, supervising, or mentoring drafting/design teams.
  • Strong knowledge of residential and commercial building codes.
  • Experience with structural analysis and engineering software.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and construction drawing review.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and project management skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience within modular, manufactured, residential, or light commercial construction.
  • Multi-state engineering licensure or ability to obtain additional state licenses.
  • Experience working with third-party reviewing agencies and code compliance organizations.

Travel Requirements

Moderate travel required (approximately 10%). Travel may include visits to manufacturing facilities, project sites, customer meetings, regulatory agencies, and field inspections.
