About the role

As an experienced Structural Engineer, you will work with a team of engineers, architects, and designers to execute projects across all areas of structural engineering—from conceptual design through installation, including estimating, equipment specification, detailed design, equipment inspection, field installation, and start-ups—while engaging directly with clients.

Responsibilities

  • Design building retrofits, pipe racks, and process structures.
  • Develop foundation design in concrete and/or steel.
  • Perform seismic analysis and wind-load calculations.
  • Conduct code analysis, structural evaluations, reports, and inspections.
  • Interpret local building/zoning codes and review plans.
  • Provide construction observation services on roadway, water, sewer, and drainage improvement projects.
  • Develop cost-effective project alternatives that deliver value to the client.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable standards and industry codes.
  • Lead a structural project team in planning, scheduling, engineering, and design execution from start to finish.
  • Define structural scope, manage schedules and budgets, track changes, and communicate updates to the team.
  • Interact with clients, attend client and internal team meetings.
  • Assist with man-hour estimations for potential projects.
  • Mentor junior engineers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Civil/Structural Engineering; Master of Engineering preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in oil refinery, power plant, and/or steel manufacturing industries.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license in Indiana, Illinois, or Ohio; Structural Engineer (SE) license preferred.
  • Proficiency in Excel, Mathcad, STAAD Pro, and RISA.
  • Familiarity with building codes including IBC, ACI 318, AISC, and ASCE 7.
  • Ability to work in the field.
  • Capacity to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Detail-oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with team members and prepare reports.
  • Leadership skills to guide a group of engineers and designers.
  • Effective client and team communication.
  • Experience managing hours and deliverables.
