Structural Engineer

Job Responsibilities

• Develop design plans for new transportation structures and for the maintenance, repair, rehabilitation, and replacement of bridges/culverts and miscellaneous structures that are a part of transportation systems
• Utilize CADD and engineering software to create detailed design plans and technical drawings
• Prepare structural design calculations in compliance with relevant design standards and client preferences
• Perform structural analysis on both new and existing transportation structures using specialized design software
• Prepare construction cost estimates and specifications for various transportation projects
• Participate in field inspections of structures over and adjacent to roadways and water

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from ABET accredited engineering program
• 0-5 years of design experience in structural engineering field
• The ability and motivation to obtain EIT certification in the first year of employment
• Excellent written and oral communication skills
• Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, especially Word and Excel
• Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with team members and project managers
• Willingness to work in the field performing hands-on inspections of transportation structures

Preferred Skills/Experience

• EIT Certification
• Experience with project delivery of State Agency Transportation Department projects
• Experience with the design and analysis of transportation structures (bridges, culverts, retaining walls, ancillary structures)
• Knowledge of MicroStation
