Structural Engineer
About the role
The Structural Engineer is responsible for producing design drawings, calculations, and specifications. This role involves working closely with clients and the local engineering community, collaborating with the BES Business Group Manager and Structural Section Manager to build strong external and internal client relationships. Responsibilities also include participating in marketing and project planning, representing HDR to the local industry, and performing other duties as needed.
Responsibilities
- Review structural documents for areas of conflict with all disciplines
- Write and edit structural specifications, select procedures, materials, and their respective sizes, and complete necessary calculations
- Independently coordinate the work of the structural design team through the design development and contract document phases of a project
- Establish meetings and participate in reviews with various governing agencies for code compliance
- Conduct design development and contract document work sessions at project site in conjunction with the Project Manager and other disciplines
- Take responsibility for coordinating workload through design development and construction document phases to complete the documents on schedule
- Cook up and assist with affected disciplines, with any addendum, request for information, change proposal requests, and change orders, and incorporate agreed-upon changes into the project documents
- Perform other duties as needed
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Architectural Engineering with Structural emphasis or Structural Engineering
- A minimum of 3 years' experience in Structural system design of commercial or institutional buildings
- Data Center design experience preferred but not required
- Preferred qualifications include experience and/or interest in sustainable design/LEED
- Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered

Pay
Salary range for this position is $80,000 - $120,000 annually, commensurate with experience.
