About the role
This position offers the opportunity to directly apply knowledge in materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design. You will work on various projects including power, energy, oil & gas, and industrial facilities, performing structural analysis and design using state-of-the-art tools.
Responsibilities
- Create calculations and develop structural document designs
- Prepare technical specifications
- Conduct structural analyses, including complex loading conditions like wind, seismic, and pressurization
- Perform structural analysis and design of steel frames, connections, concrete members, equipment and piping supports, and foundations
- Travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and plant site locations for structural condition assessments, construction coordination, and field verification of designs
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Civil Engineering from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program
- 3+ years of related experience in analysis and design of steel structures and concrete foundations for power plants or heavy industrial facilities
- Experience in writing and providing support documentation for Structural Engineering calculations
- Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in the production of technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
- Proficiency with MS Office applications
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Qualifications
- Essential: BS or MS of Civil Engineering with a strong academic background and interest in materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design
- Valued but not required: Successfully completed the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam, designated as an Engineer in Training, proficiency with relevant software, and familiarity with design codes and standards
Skills and Experience
- Knowledge of practical application of structural engineering including loads analysis for structural supports and design integrity
- Ability to solve engineering problems using modern tools such as automation and AI to improve workflows, reduce rework, and deliver cost-effective designs
- Proficiency with programming or scripting languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate calculations, design checks, reporting, or data transformation
