Structural Designer 2 - Nuclear Support

About the role

This position offers a hybrid work schedule combining on-site and remote work. You will join a multi-disciplinary engineering and design team to develop structural physical layout drawings in a 3D model. You will tackle challenging assignments such as designing structural supports and foundations, investigating and solving structural design issues, and utilizing 3D modeling software to generate structural design schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Act as the structural design team lead in coordinating detailed design phases for an integrated structural design model.
  • Coordinate and provide guidance to other designers and project team members to ensure a complete and timely design.
  • Independently and as part of a design team, plan and execute structural design deliverables.
  • Participate in field walkdowns and data gathering at client facilities.
  • Challenging assignments that include the design of structural supports and foundations, and investigating, trouble-shooting, and solving a wide variety of structural design issues.
  • Generate structural design schematics.
  • Provide guidance as a mentor in the development of less experienced drafters and designers.

Qualifications

  • A foundational undergraduate program in a technical area including drafting, or a combination of 10+ years of detailed design experience in structural steel design and reinforced concrete design drawings.
  • Proficiency with design software tools in executing 3D plant layout models.
  • Experience in reviewing structural layout drawings involving steel frames, connections, concrete members, equipment and piping supports, foundations, and rebar detailing.
  • Ability to interface with engineering and design teams of other disciplines in the power plant design process.

Skills

  • Proficiency with MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in producing technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology.
