About the role
Stantec’s Transportation group is seeking a Structural Bridge Engineer to join their Gulf Region. This role may be based in Baton Rouge, LA, New Orleans, LA, Jackson, MS, or Nashville, TN.
Responsibilities
- Evaluate, select, specify, and engineer systems or products for a project.
- Develop construction plans, specifications, cost estimates, engineering reports and studies for infrastructure projects, including bridges, transportation related structures, and other structural elements.
- Perform tasks such as design, analysis, load rating, inspection, and rehabilitation/repair.
- Work on a variety of bridge-related projects, including but not limited to:
- Urban corridor with trapezoidal girders in Lafayette, LA
- Curved steel plate girder interchange in Gulfport, MS
- Navigational channel crossing in Lake Charles, LA
- Design-build delivery of an airport interchange in Kenner, LA
Requirements
- Technical proficiency in relevant areas of bridge design, understanding of various design methods, and a thorough understanding of codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions.
- Proficient in Microstation, OpenBridge, AASHTOWare BrR, LEAP, and other relevant design software.
- Ability to solve problems using sound professional judgment, creativity and innovation.
- Takes initiative on tasks and in coordinating with other members of the design team.
- Working knowledge of codes, legal and design requirements in relevant jurisdictions and developing jurisdictional experience and contacts.
- Proficient in Microsoft (MS) Office Suite.
- Ability to check the work of others for accuracy and completeness and manages time to meet project budget and schedule.
- Ability to participate and collaborate in project team settings, engage in creative and critical thought, and effectively communicate ideas, design issues, and solutions to others.
- Ability to create and interpret sketches, drawings, and other similar material.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering. Masters degree is a plus.
- 6+ years of experience working with LADOTD, MDOT, and/or TDOT.
- P.E. license in Louisiana, Mississippi, and/or Tennessee.
- Possess or able to obtain Certified Bridge Inspector status.
