Structural (Bridge) Engineer

About the role

The successful candidate will be part of a team designing simple and complex bridges (primarily concrete and steel construction) and a variety of transportation related structures (retaining walls, culverts, and other ancillary structures).

Responsibilities

• Develop Plans, Specifications, and Estimate (PS&E) packages for structural and bridge engineering projects.
• Collaborate with a team to design and develop innovative solutions for challenging projects.
• Work on a range of projects, including those involving VDOT and MD SHA standards.
• Use software such as OpenBridge Designer, Leap Bridge Concrete, CSiBridge, and CADD (Microstation preferred).
• Communicate effectively with clients and team members to ensure high-quality project delivery.
• Lead and mentor junior engineers to foster professional growth and skill development.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a focus in Structural engineering required; Master's degree preferred.
• 5+ years of progressive experience working on structural and bridge engineering projects.
• Virginia Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred or ability to obtain within 1-2 years.
• Familiarity with AASHTO LRFD Bridge Design Specifications.
• Experience with VDOT and/or MD SHA standards.
• Knowledge of OpenBridge Designer, Leap Bridge Concrete, CSiBridge, and/or similar analysis programs.
• Proficiency using CADD (Microstation preferred).

Pay

The projected range for this position is $86,000 - $111,000 annually.
