About the Role
Looking for an experienced Stress Engineer specializing in metallic and composite aircraft structures to support structural analysis activities across design, production, and certification phases. The role focuses on ensuring structural integrity, durability, and compliance with aerospace regulatory requirements through detailed static, fatigue, and damage tolerance analysis.
Responsibilities
- Perform static, fatigue, and damage tolerance analysis for aircraft structures using classical hand calculations.
- Apply Boeing Static and Book 1, 2, and 3 Fatigue Analysis Methodologies.
- Use Boeing Stress Tools, including IAS, XSA/SA+, FEADMS, IDTAS, Moss-Duberg, and FAMOSS.
- Understand load paths and extract loads from Finite Element Models.
- Perform Damage Tolerance Analysis in accordance with CFR25.571.
- Determine critical failure modes and perform analysis to ensure structural integrity.
- Analyze aircraft primary and secondary metallic structures.
- Read and interpret engineering drawings.
- Coordinate with cross-functional groups including Design and Materials and Process Engineering.
- Participate in review meetings with customers and Subject Matter Experts (SMEs).
- Generate Engineering Stress Reports establishing compliance and safety.
- Interact with customers to understand the Scope of Work and methodology required to meet expectations.
Requirements
- At least a bachelor’s degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering.
- 5 to 12 years of experience in the aerospace industry as a Stress Engineer.
- Comprehensive knowledge of stress analysis of aerospace structures.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of aerospace industry standards.
- Experience in metallic and composite structural analysis.
- Experience in load and stress calculations and preparing technical reports.
- Experience with Finite Element Analysis tools (Nastran, Patran).
- Experience in static, fatigue, and damage tolerance calculations.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Experience with PATRAN, NASTRAN, FEMAP.
- Experience in MRB (Material Review Board) and SRM (Structural Repair Manual).
- Experience with CATIA V5 and Enovia.
