Stress Analyst

About the role

The Stress Analysis Engineer will take charge of moderate to complex structural analysis projects, help guide junior analysts, and support the technical side of propulsion subsystem stress work. They will connect detailed finite-element models with design reviews, ensuring the stress checks meet the program’s performance, reliability, and safety goals.

Responsibilities

• Conduct stress analysis using linear and nonlinear solutions to define and evaluate missile propulsion subsystems and components from early concept through flight.
• Review and provide constructive feedback on models, reports, and deliverables.
• Partner across a multidisciplinary engineering team to ensure structural integrity throughout the product lifecycle and guide design trades and decisions.
• Define and support structural test requirements, provide predictions, oversee test execution, and lead post-test activities to ensure requirements and objectives are met.
• Prepare and present technical findings with clarity and confidence to internal teams, customers, and program leadership at key design reviews and technical forums.
• Deliver high-quality analysis products and documentation.
• Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems at all levels (concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance, and disposal).
• Ensure the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
• Perform functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation, and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.

Requirements

• Professional experience performing stress analysis of metallic structures.
• Experience participating in multidisciplinary design reviews.
• Experience using finite element tools (NX/Nastran, Abaqus, Ansys, FEMAP, or PATRAN).

Skills

• Master’s degree in Aerospace, Structural, or Mechanical Engineering (desired).
• Experience in the planning and execution of structural development and qualification testing (desired).
• Experience with thermo-structural analysis of high-temperature alloys such as propulsion-related hardware, jet and rocket engines, heat shields, solid or liquid rocket propulsion including hot gas systems, or any supporting or adjacent high-temperature hardware (desired).
• Excellent communication skills—both written and verbal.
• Self-motivated, and able and willing to support multiple projects.

Pay

Full-Time Salary Range: $95,900.00 - $178,100.00

For Washington state applicants only: Non-represented full-time employees accrue at least 10 hours per month of Paid Time Off (PTO) for incidental absences and receive at least 90 hours for holidays. Represented full-time employees accrue 6.67 hours of Vacation per month, up to 52 hours of sick leave annually, and receive at least 96 hours for holidays. PTO, Vacation, sick leave, and holiday hours are prorated based on start date during the calendar year.
