Minimum Starting Salary: $17.50 per hour

The City of Waco is seeking a dedicated and reliable Streets Maintenance Worker to join the Public Works Department. This position performs a variety of unskilled and semi‑skilled tasks involved in the maintenance and repair of streets, roadways, and infrastructure.

Required Minimum Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Valid Texas driver’s license (required upon hire)

Preferred Qualifications

• 1 year of manual labor experience

Essential Functions

• Perform unskilled and semi‑skilled manual labor tasks to maintain and repair streets, roadways, and infrastructure; duties may vary according to job assignment.
• Operate City vehicles and mechanized equipment; perform street cleaning, repair, and maintenance tasks; set up work zones, assist equipment operators as directed, and cross‑train in a variety of Public Works Department skills.
• Inspect equipment and tools for proper operating condition; repair, maintain, and adjust equipment; follow safety precautions; report problems, emergency situations, unsafe acts, conditions, accidents, and injuries.
• Respond after‑hours, including holidays and weekends, in the event of a departmental or City‑wide emergency, as required.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
