Street Sweeper Operator

About the role

Capital Planning and Facilities (CPF) works to ensure that Indiana University campuses are beautiful, functional, and sustainable, supporting excellence in teaching, learning, research, and community engagement. Facility Operations, a unit within CPF, maintains the physical campus to support research, teaching, and learning at Indiana University Bloomington.

Responsibilities

• Drive a street sweeper vehicle to clean streets of trash, debris, and other contaminants
• Fill water tanks and drive the sweeper near curbs
• Operate controls to activate rotary brushes and water spray to facilitate debris and dust collection
• Dump collected refuse into piles or trucks for disposal
• Perform minor maintenance on the street sweeper, including cleaning the vehicle, checking fluids, and tire pressures
• Drive a truck with a snow plow to clear streets of accumulated snow
• Drive a dump truck, pick up trash, and perform other minor grounds maintenance tasks as needed

Education

• Required: High school diploma or equivalent (such as HSED or GED)

Work Experience

• Required: 2 years driving experience

Licenses and Certificates

• Required: Possesses a valid Class B CDL license and ability to be insured by Indiana University upon date of hire

This role requires stationary positioning for long periods of time.
