Street Maintenance Technician, Specialist, or Senior Specialist position with the Town of Payson, AZ.
About the role
Performs a variety of semi-skilled and skilled tasks in the construction, maintenance, and repair of streets, sidewalks, alleys, culverts, and related public works facilities.
Responsibilities
- Operates a variety of hand and power tools, equipment, and machinery such as jackhammers, pavement saws, tampers, compactors, loaders, backhoes, and dump trucks.
- Performs street maintenance and repair work including patching potholes, repairing cracks, and replacing damaged sections of pavement.
- Assists in the construction and repair of sidewalks, curbs, gutters, and driveways.
- Installs, repairs, and maintains street signs, traffic signs, and related traffic control devices.
- Performs snow removal and ice control activities as needed.
- Assists in the maintenance and repair of storm drains, culverts, and related drainage systems.
- Performs routine maintenance on equipment and tools.
- Responds to citizen requests and complaints regarding street maintenance issues.
- Performs related work as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Valid Arizona driver's license.
- Ability to obtain a Commercial Driver's License (CDL) within 6 months of hire.
- One year of experience in street maintenance, construction, or a related field for the Technician level; additional experience required for Specialist and Senior Specialist levels.
- Knowledge of methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in street maintenance and construction.
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and blueprints.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Ability to communicate effectively with the public and other employees.
- Ability to perform heavy physical labor in various weather conditions.

Pay
Technician: $18.00 - $22.00 per hour
Specialist: $20.00 - $25.00 per hour
Senior Specialist: $23.00 - $28.00 per hour
Schedule
Full-time, 40 hours per week. May require overtime, weekends, holidays, and on-call duties as needed.
