Street Maintenance Concrete Laborer
Make an impact as a Street Maintenance Concrete Laborer by joining a dedicated team serving the City of Salem. Your work will directly contribute to the maintenance of the City’s transportation network, ensuring sidewalks, curbs, ADA ramps, and driveway aprons remain safe and accessible for all community members. You will also assist street operation crews during snow, ice, and other emergency events, helping to protect public safety when the community needs it most.

Responsibilities
- Perform concrete flatwork, including maintenance of sidewalks, curbs, ADA ramps, and driveway aprons.
- Assist street operation crews during snow, ice, and other emergency events.
- Operate equipment such as trucks, trailers, and grinders.
- Work primarily outdoors in various weather conditions, involving physical labor.
- May require working outside normal business hours during emergency events.
Qualifications
- One year of general maintenance, repair, or construction experience in street right-of-way, public works facilities, utility systems, or public improvements (preference given to experience in concrete work).
- High School graduate or G.E.D. preferred.
- Must pass a pre-employment background check and fitness assessment.
- Must have a valid driver’s license and a driving record that meets the City of Salem’s standards.
Skills
- Hands-on experience in concrete flatwork, general construction, and/or heavy equipment operation.
- Comfort operating equipment such as trucks, trailers, and grinders.
- Ability to work well as part of a team and communicate effectively with coworkers.

Schedule
- Winter Hours (September - May): 4/10 schedule, 6:00 AM - 4:30 PM.
- Summer Hours (May - September): 5/8 schedule, 7:00 AM - 3:30 PM.
