Strategy & Operations - Coding Optimization and Automation Consultant

For our client, we are seeking a Strategy & Operations - Coding Optimization and Automation Consultant to join the team of a leader in the Business Services space. This role will focus on helping healthcare organizations improve coding operations through better structure, stronger quality controls, and practical automation. The consultant will partner closely with client leaders to redesign workflows, improve visibility into performance, and drive measurable gains in productivity and accuracy. A key part of the work will involve aligning technology-enabled processes with day-to-day coding operations in support of revenue cycle performance. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $125,000 – $235,000 annually Responsibilities Assess and redesign coding department structures for efficiency and clear ownership Identify and implement automation opportunities, including enterprise coding functionality Align workflows with operational processes, including workqueue design and claim edits Build or optimize coding quality assurance programs with effective feedback loops Develop comprehensive coder onboarding and ongoing education programs Establish coding KPIs and reporting for performance visibility and accountability Serve as a trusted advisor to client leaders, managing deliverables and communicating progress Qualifications 7+ years in healthcare coding, HIM, or revenue cycle management Experience leading or shaping coding operations in a provider organization or as a consultant Expertise in both hospital and professional coding, with a strong preference for dual proficiency In-depth knowledge of CPT, ICD-10-CM/PCS, and E/M coding standards Proven track record of using technology to enhance coding processes, not limited to AI tools Hands-on experience in developing coding QA programs and productivity standards Demonstrated measurable results in productivity, accuracy, or automation improvements Benefits Comprehensive training and development opportunities Flexible work arrangements to accommodate travel requirements Access to cutting-edge technology and tools in coding and automation Collaborative work environment with a focus on innovation Opportunities for career advancement within the organization Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
