Strategy Leader CRM or SAP Transformation (1099)
The Opportunity
ElevationHR is recruiting multiple Strategy Leaders (IT) for a major regulated Energy & Utilities organization undergoing significant enterprise technology and business transformation. We are seeking senior technology leaders with deep expertise in either CRM/customer transformation OR SAP/enterprise applications. Candidates are not required to have both CRM and SAP experience. Multiple positions are available, and candidates may align to different transformation priorities based on their area of expertise. This is not a traditional project-management role. You will work with senior business and technology leaders to take complex, sometimes partially defined problems and turn them into actionable strategies and enterprise solutions. Success goes beyond creating a roadmap or reaching go-live—you will help shape the solution, challenge assumptions, drive stakeholder adoption, and remain accountable for measurable business value.
What You'll Do
- Lead enterprise strategy and transformation initiatives involving CRM/customer technology OR SAP/ERP/enterprise applications.
- Translate complex business problems into technology strategies, roadmaps, investment priorities, and executable solutions.
- Own transformation across the lifecycle: current-state problem → strategic decision → solution → implementation → adoption → measurable value.
- Partner with executives, business leaders, enterprise architects, engineering, data, cybersecurity, product teams, and systems integrators.
- Evaluate and challenge SI/vendor recommendations, architecture, data, processes, and implementation approaches when necessary.
- Establish KPIs connecting technology investments to measurable customer, operational, financial, productivity, risk, or service outcomes.
- Navigate ambiguity, competing priorities, and complex stakeholder environments while maintaining execution momentum.
Required Qualifications — Must Have
Candidates must meet all of the following:
- Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
- 10+ years of progressive enterprise technology experience, including significant experience in technology strategy, enterprise transformation, digital transformation, enterprise applications, architecture, or technology-enabled business transformation.
- Significant enterprise-level experience in at least ONE of these areas:
- CRM/customer transformation (e.g., Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics 365, contact centers, customer service, billing integration, customer data, self-service, digital customer experience, workflow automation, or AI-enabled customer operations).
- SAP/enterprise applications transformation (e.g., S/4HANA, RISE with SAP, ECC, BTP, EAM/Plant Maintenance, Finance, Supply Chain, MM, SD, FICO, master data, data migration, clean core, enterprise integration, or reporting).
- Demonstrated ownership of complex technology initiatives from business problem and strategy through implementation, stakeholder/user adoption, and measurable value realization.
- Experience influencing and communicating with senior business and technology leadership, including Director and VP-level stakeholders.
- Ability to operate independently, navigate ambiguity, and make sound decisions without requiring extensive direction.
- Technical and business fluency sufficient to work across architecture, engineering, data, business functions, and systems-integrator teams.
Engagement Requirements
- Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future employment sponsorship.
- Must be willing to work on a 1099 contract basis at $140–$150/hour.
- No Corp-to-Corp (C2C) arrangements unless contracting through the candidate's own LLC.
- Must be willing and able to work a hybrid schedule in Houston, Texas.
- Candidates requiring relocation must relocate at their own expense. Relocation assistance is not available, and this requirement is non-negotiable.
- Local Houston-area candidates are preferred but not required.
Preferred Qualifications — Nice to Have
These qualifications can strengthen your candidacy but are not required:
- Master's degree or MBA in a relevant discipline.
- CRM experience with Salesforce, Microsoft Dynamics 365, contact centers, customer service, billing integration, customer data, self-service, digital customer experience, workflow automation, or AI-enabled customer operations.
- SAP experience with S/4HANA, RISE with SAP, ECC, BTP, EAM/Plant Maintenance, Finance, Supply Chain, MM, SD, FICO, master data, data migration, clean core, enterprise integration, or reporting.
- Experience challenging or governing major systems integrators, consulting partners, MSPs, or technology vendors.
- Enterprise architecture, cloud, data, analytics, AI/ML, GenAI, or automation experience.
- Experience within energy, utilities, oil & gas, industrial, manufacturing, critical infrastructure, aerospace, defense, or another highly regulated environment.
- Direct electric or gas utility experience is an added advantage, not a requirement.
What Success Looks Like
The strongest Strategy Leaders can clearly demonstrate: Business Problem → Strategic Decision → Personal Ownership → Solution → Implementation → Adoption → End State → Measurable Realized Value. You should be equally comfortable discussing the business problem with an executive and going deep enough with technology teams to challenge assumptions and make better decisions.
If you bring deep CRM OR SAP transformation experience, strong executive communication, technical credibility, and a track record of turning complex enterprise problems into adopted solutions with measurable results, we encourage you to apply.
