Job Summary

The Strategic Sourcing Manager will develop, implement, and maintain a commodity strategy supporting the company's material objectives, focusing on mechanical commodities like tape, adhesive, plastic, injection molding, and pouches. They will evaluate supply bases and technologies, develop and execute strategies, and manage lean material flows.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Evaluate supply base and technologies to keep Engineering and Operations informed about market trends and changes.
  • Develop and execute commodity strategies for key mechanical commodities.
  • Understand business and technical aspects of internal Supply Chain procurement/processing/master scheduling functions to organize and manage lean material flow.
  • Lead global strategic commodity management for assigned categories to achieve key performance indicators.
  • Support and improve vendor management processes and work closely with contract manufacturers.
  • Manage recovery plans and execution when global supply falls short of demand.
  • Qualify preferred suppliers and migrate spend from incumbent, non-preferred suppliers.
  • Conduct supplier business reviews to ensure obligations under agreements are met.
  • Drive continuous improvements and efficiencies within the supply chain and support throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Provide regular feedback to promote strengths and help identify areas for improvement within the supply chain.
  • Collaborate with buyer/planners to efficiently deliver products to customers, overseeing and managing all related projects.
  • Identify means to improve efficiencies and speed of routine work, leading efforts to implement positive change.
  • May oversee direct reports and assigned team members, providing leadership, guidance, and training as needed.
  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • 8+ years’ experience in Strategic Procurement and Commodity Management with experience in Mechanical Category Strategies and Vendor Management for up to $60 million.
  • Deep understanding of complex engineering quality issues and solutions.
  • Purchasing/ERP/Agile experience and results in materials shortage management and inventory control.
  • Results-oriented, metrics-driven leader with a focus on permanent and continuous improvement.
  • Superior analytical and computer skills with experience using MS Access and SQL Server, and an in-depth understanding of manufacturing (MPS/MRP).
  • Advanced skills in Digital Strategic procurement systems; Spend Analysis, Sourcing, Contract Management, P2P.
  • Discretionary professional development in Procurement and Category Management field; CSCP, CPSM, CIPS.
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with internal customers based on trust and handle changing priorities and timelines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Mandarin Chinese or Spanish language skills preferred.
  • Proven cost reduction track record and project management skills.
  • Five years of related management experience preferred.

Education

  • BS or BA degree in Engineering or Business; MBA preferred.

Compensation

The anticipated salary range for this position is $100,000 - $120,000 plus benefits. Actual placement within the range is dependent on multiple factors, including skills, education, and experience. This position also qualifies for up to 10% annual bonus based on Company, department, and individual performance. Physical Requirements/Work Environment

This position primarily works in an office environment. It requires frequent sitting, standing, and walking. Daily use of a computer and other computing and digital devices is required. May stand for extended periods when facilitating meetings or walking in the facilities. Some local travel is necessary, so the ability to operate a motor vehicle and maintain a valid Driver’s license is required. Further, some business travel (domestic and international) may be required. Location

This position reports to our Irvine, CA office on site full time.
