Strategic Projects Lead - Coding
About the role
The Strategic Projects Lead (SPL) role is part of Scale’s Generative AI business unit, which is experiencing significant growth. The SPL will lead initiatives aimed at driving substantial new revenue for the company. This role demands a broad range of responsibilities, including decision-making that impacts data quality, operational efficiency, revenue, and margins.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the full owner of our most visible and high-impact customer pipelines, making critical decisions that affect data quality, operational efficiency, revenue, and margins
- Understand customer requirements and design data taxonomies tailored to improve model performance based on customer needs
- Build out pipeline infrastructure to ensure quality and efficiency
- Train, coach, and manage dynamic and global teams
- Build analytics to support data-driven decision-making
- Partner with diverse stakeholders (Engineering, Product, Operations, Go-to-Market) to address complex problems that advance the largest language models globally
- Give regular progress updates to Scale’s executive team
Requirements
- A strong technical background, such as a degree in Machine Learning Engineering, Computer Science, or Software Engineering
- Experience leading a team or managing operational processes, or equivalent software engineering experience
- Strong problem-solving capabilities in technical environments, capable of developing creative solutions to complex, ambiguous, operational, and technical challenges
- An entrepreneurial mindset, excited about building from scratch and identifying and executing on issues quickly
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience leading a team or managing operational processes, or 3+ years of experience as a Software Engineer
Skills
- Proficiency in data analytics using SQL, Python, and Software Engineering processes

Compensation packages at Scale for eligible roles include base salary, equity, and benefits. The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position and may be inclusive of several career levels at Scale; it will be determined during the interview process based on work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, interview performance, and relevant education or training. Scale employees in eligible roles are also granted equity-based compensation, subject to Board of Director approval. $112,000 - $190,000 USD
