About the role
The Strategic Pricing Analyst will partner closely with Sales and Finance to improve price realization, margin performance, and pricing consistency across the organization. This is a high-visibility role with meaningful impact on revenue and profitability outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Pricing Analytics & Insights
- Analyze pricing performance, including margin, discounting trends, price realization, and customer/product profitability.
- Identify opportunities to improve pricing outcomes and margin performance.
- Build and maintain pricing dashboards and recurring reporting for commercial and leadership teams.
- Develop segmentation views (by customer, product, business unit, and region) to support differentiated pricing strategies.
- Deal Support & Scenario Modeling
- Develop financial models to evaluate deal scenarios and pricing exceptions, assessing trade-offs across price, margin, volume, and retention.
- Provide data-backed recommendations on deal structure, discount levels, and negotiation levers based on business context.
- Support pricing governance by helping define pricing guardrails and monitoring adherence to policies.
- Pricing Initiatives & Optimization
- Support the implementation of pricing improvements, such as new price bands, discount guidance, bundled offers, and program changes.
- Track the performance and financial impact of pricing initiatives; recommend course corrections as needed.
- Present findings and recommendations in clear, concise formats (presentations, dashboards, executive summaries) that drive action and decision-making.
Requirements
- 3–7 years of experience in pricing, commercial analytics, sales operations analytics, FP&A, revenue operations, Big 4 consulting/audit/business valuation, or a related analytical field.
- Advanced Excel skills, including scenario modeling, pivot tables, and building structured, scalable models.
- Strong analytical thinking paired with commercial acumen; able to balance competitiveness with profitability.
- Excellent communication and data storytelling skills, with the ability to translate analysis into actionable recommendations.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally and influence stakeholders without direct authority.
- High ownership mindset; proactively identifies opportunities and drives work through to measurable outcomes.
- Structured problem-solving approach; able to break down ambiguous questions, develop hypotheses, and deliver clear, data-supported recommendations.
Qualifications
- Preferred
- Experience with BI tools such as Power BI, Tableau, or Looker; SQL proficiency or willingness to learn.
- Background supporting B2B pricing, deal desk, quoting, renewals, or sales negotiations.
- Familiarity with pricing compliance frameworks, discount policies, guardrails, and test-and-learn methodologies.
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Primarily sedentary work, requiring extended periods of sitting while working at a computer.
- Ability to communicate effectively in person, via phone, and through virtual collaboration tools.
- Occasional standing, walking, and movement during meetings, site visits, or travel.
- Ability to lift and carry light materials (up to 15 lbs) occasionally, such as a laptop or presentation materials.
- Ability to travel periodically for business needs, including visiting distribution centers, suppliers, stores, or industry events.
- Office environment includes standard business equipment such as computers, phones, and conferencing tools.
- This position may require over 40 hours per week.
