Strategic Planner
Job Description
The Strategic Planner is a key leadership role responsible for shaping and advancing the organization’s long-term strategic direction. This role partners closely with executive leadership, business leaders, and cross-functional teams to support the Emerson Management Process and drive growth, innovation, and operational excellence. By translating market insights and business priorities into actionable strategies, the Strategic Planner helps ensure alignment between strategic objectives and day-to-day execution across the organization.
Responsibilities
- Lead the development and ongoing refinement of the organization’s strategic plans, ensuring alignment with company purpose, values, and evolving market dynamics
- Partner with executive leadership to define strategic priorities, long-term objectives, and actionable plans that support sustainable business growth
- Support Emerson planning and governance processes, including preparation of materials and insights for President’s Council, Profit Review, and Growth Conference
- Conduct market, competitive, and industry analysis to identify growth opportunities, emerging trends, and potential risks
- Gather, organize, and synthesize internal and external data across Flow Controls markets, world areas, business units, and operations
- Systematically track and assess Fisher product market activity to inform long-term strategy and business direction
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement strategic initiatives aligned with organizational goals
- Communicate strategic insights and recommendations clearly and effectively to stakeholders at all levels
- Anticipate challenges to strategy execution and support change management efforts to drive adoption and alignment
- Help prioritize initiatives and projects based on strategic impact and business value

Preferred Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, marketing, or a related field
- 2+ years of experience in strategic planning, business analysis, market analysis, or forecasting within a complex organization
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into meaningful insights and recommendations
- Effective communication and presentation skills across diverse audiences
- Authorization to work in the United States without current or future sponsorship
- MBA
- 3+ years of experience in strategic planning, business analysis, market analysis, or forecasting within a complex organization
- Experience working in a global, matrixed organization
- Knowledge of Flow Controls, Fisher products, or related industrial markets
- Proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint
- Familiarity with financial reporting metrics and operational performance indicators
- A proactive approach, strong ownership mindset, and commitment to meeting deadlines
