Position Overview
We are seeking a temporary Strategic Marketing & Communications Specialist to provide strategic leadership and hands-on execution during an organizational restructuring period for our client. This is a contract role suited for an experienced marketing professional who can assess current efforts, build and manage campaigns, and personally execute communications work. The ideal candidate is a "player-coach" - capable of strategic thinking and rolling up their sleeves to get work done. Graphic design support is available in-house; this role is focused on strategy, writing, and campaign leadership.
What You'll Do
- Audit current marketing and communications efforts and recommend improvements
- Develop and manage marketing and communications plans aligned with organizational goals
- Write press releases, articles, website content, newsletter copy, and campaign messaging
- Build and manage a media contact list; identify and pursue earned media opportunities
- Lead marketing campaigns supporting membership growth, events, and brand awareness
- Direct in-house graphic design resources and coordinate with outside vendors as needed
- Develop and manage content calendars
- Support government affairs and workforce development communications as needed
What We're Looking For
- 5+ years of experience in marketing, communications, or a related field
- Demonstrated ability to develop strategy and personally execute campaigns
- Strong writing and content development skills across channels
- Experience with media relations and earned media outreach
- Comfortable working in a small-to-mid-size organization with lean resources
- Familiarity with the construction, real estate, or trade association sector is a plus
- Collaborative style with the ability to work independently
This Role Is Not
- A graphic design role
- A membership sales or retention role - those responsibilities remain with the Membership Director
- Not included in the scope of this role are budget management, staff supervision, or executive administrative functions
